The Independent Community Banker Association released its annual ranking of the best performing community banks in the nation. For the third consecutive year, Plains Commerce Bank not only made the list, but has stayed in the top 25. For 2016, Plains Commerce clocked in at #21 out of 161 qualifying financial institutions besting its #24 ranking in 2015. The top community banks are identified using return on average assets (ROAA) and return on average equity (ROAE) and are categorized into six asset-size categories. According to the ICBA, “the rankings reflect distinct circumstances as well as an adherence to common industry principles, such as integrity and superior customer service, disciplined game plans and pricing models, and old-fashioned hard work.”

The company’s employees were humbled, thrilled, and honored to not only be considered one of the top community banks in the region, but in the country. Plains Commerce Bank CEO Steve Hageman reflected on the company’s culture stating “Being in the top couple of community banks in the country reflects our commitment to putting customers before profits and honoring our roots in the communities we serve.”
